It is with profound sorrow that the Federation of Catholic Family Associations in Europe (FAFCE) has learned of the passing of Mrs. Anna Záborská, a faithful servant of the common good, a devoted mother and grandmother, and a courageous witness to the dignity of human life and the family.
Madam Záborská, whose personal story brought the signs of the fight against conformism and totalitarianism, gave of herself generously, both in her vocation within her family and in her political mission. During her years as a Member of the European Parliament, she consistently defended the intrinsic dignity of woman and the rights of mothers, particularly as chair of the Women’s Rights Committee. The collaboration between Madam Záborská and the then-FAFCE President Antoine Renard, was particularly fruitful, as when they both intervened at the International Day of Families in 2018.
Her wisdom, integrity, and Christian witness remain an inspiration to all policymakers who work for a Europe that protects life and empowers families. She always defended her convictions with courage, never seeking for honours.
For FAFCE, Madam Záborská was not only a committed politician, but also a sister in faith and a friend. Her dedication, rooted in her love of Christ and His Church, will remain a shining example for all those who work for the renewal of Europe in its Christian vocation.
In this moment of sorrow, we unite ourselves in prayer with her family, friends, and all those who were touched by her tireless dedication. May her legacy continue to inspire future generations to work for a Europe that is at the service of the common good and more faithful to its Christian roots.
