Brussels, 18 March 2025

FAFCE EU Advocacy Director Matthieu Bruynseels took part in the annual meeting of the Social Affairs Commission of COMECE, the Commission of the Bishops’ Conferences of the European Union.

As required in the Memorandum of Understanding between FAFCE and COMECE, FAFCE participates as an observer member to the meetings of the COMECE Social Affairs Commission.

The Auxiliary Bishop of Malta, Mgr Joseph Galea-Curmi, presided over the 2025 Spring Meeting of the Social Affairs Commission held in Brussels on 16-17 March 2026. The meeting focussed on integral human development in geopolitical and technological transitions; the EU Anti-Poverty Strategy for the Future of Social Investment; the Housing Crisis and the EU Affordable Housing Plan; the Quality Jobs Act and finally the ethical and policy perspective of the Future of Work.

This common document on the Future of Work is the fruit of two years of discussion, which also involved FAFCE a representative of grassroots families. It will be released soon after a final review.
