Brussels, 7th of October 2025
Last month, between the 2nd and the 4th of September, FAFCE participated in the Economic Forum in Karpacz, Poland.
The Economic Forum is a project of the Foundation Institute for Eastern Studies, active in the field of cooperation among European countries, especially Central and Eastern Europe. The Forum is a debate platform where civil society representatives, local and regional community circles, political representatives, business world and groups of experts meet to exchange on various policy fields. Its mission is to create a favorable climate for the development of political and economic cooperation between EU member states and their neighbours.
FAFCE Project Manager, Maria Waszkiewicz, was invited to join a panel discussion entitled ‘The demographic crisis in Europe and its consequences’ together with Katarzyna Nowakowska, Polish Viceminister of Family, Labour and Social Policy, Andrzej Kredkowski, Member of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship Sejmik, and Mateusz Łakomy, demographer. The panel was moderated by Agnieszka Chłoń-Domińczak, Director of the Institute of Statistics and Demography at SGH Warsaw School of Economics. FAFCE reminded us that we should respond to the demographic crisis by prioritising intergenerational solidarity and highlighted that “there is no sustainable development without intergenerational balance”.
The partnership between FAFCE and the Economic Forum lasts now since 2018 and is a sign of how the family and the demographic challenges are central for the economic development and the future of Europe.
