1st February 2021

On the 27th of January 2021, FAFCE Members met online for an Informal Board Meeting. They shared their experience of 2020 and the initiatives they launched during this year, marked by the pandemic.

Our associations have been supporting families since the start of the pandemic, proposing ideas for parents to deal with the lockdown (Czech Republic, France, Romania) and keeping them updated on the financial support they were entitled to (Austria, Croatia, Romania). Some of our associations also tackled the question of education and relayed the concerns of parents for their children (Austria, Italy, Spain).

While focusing on the specific challenges created by the Covid-19 crisis, our Members remained committed to defend a culture of life. They launched several initiatives and campaigns regarding the questions of euthanasia (Ireland, Malta, Spain), medically assisted procreation (France) and abortion (Poland).

Last but not least, our Members and Associated Members continued to promote the beauty of the family in Europe (Czech Republic, Hungary, Latvia) and asked their respective governments to give more support to families (Austria, Italy, Croatia).

During the Board Meeting, FAFCE Members also had the opportunity to listen and exchange with two guest speakers: Prof. Gabriella Gambino, Under-Secretary of the Dicastery for Laity, Family and Life, who presented the Amoris Laetitia Year for the Family, and Mr Tebaldo Vinciguerra, from the Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development, on the fifth anniversary year of the Laudato Si’ Encyclical Letter.
