Brussels, 31 March 2026

In the context of the war in Ukraine, families appear both as essential actors of social resilience and as a key lever for recovery and peace. Vulnerable and indispensable, they support the war effort within society and will play a decisive role in future reconstruction.

To address these issues, MEP General Christophe Gomart (EPP) is pleased to invite you, together with the EPP Group, to a hearing entitled:
“Peace Actors in Ukraine: Families Paving the Way to Peace”. The conference, organised in partnership with FAFCE (Federation of Catholic Family Associations in Europe) and L’Œuvre d’Orient, will focus on the role of families as actors of peace in Ukraine and will feature three speakers coming directly from Ukraine.

The hearing will take place on Wednesday, 22 April, from 16:30 to 18:30, in room Spinelli 3E2, and will be followed by a cocktail reception, providing an opportunity to continue discussions with the speakers.

The panel will include:

  • Mgr Radoslaw Zmitrowicz, Catholic Bishop of Kamianets-Podilskyi
  • Ms Liudmyla Levytska, Ukrainian mother and refugee in Belgium
  • Ms Victoria and Mr Dmytro Demedyuk, representatives of Équipes Notre-Dame in Ukraine
  • Mr Antoine Renard, former President of FAFCE and Board Member of L’Œuvre d’Orient
  • MEP Nicolás Pascual de la Parte (concluding remarks)
