Following its Spring Board Meeting in the Netherlands, the Federation of Catholic Family Associations in Europe (FAFCE) rejoices for the election of His Holiness Pope Leo XIV, following the choice of the Sacred College of Cardinals on the 8 May 2025.
FAFCE president Vincenzo Bassi declares : “We welcome with deep joy the election of Pope Leo XIV, a missionary to the throne of Peter. In this epochal change that we are experiencing, as Pope Francis often emphasised, families will have in him a shepherd, following the example of the Good Shepherd, who brings true peace.”
FAFCE has long been inspired and encouraged by papal declarations and priorities. The late Pope Francis has transmitted inspiration and encouragement to FAFCE by receiving our Federation in the Vatican for its 20th anniversary and 25th anniversary, and especially for putting the family in the center of his ministry, from the very beginning.
FAFCE embraces Pope Leo XIV first greetings of peace: “to enter your heart, to reach your families, to all people, wherever they are, to all peoples, to the whole earth. Peace be with you!”
